## Description

This Step-by-Step will demonstrate how to use the Find In function in order to perform an Advanced search in the Timeline or in the 3D Scene.

## 1. Find Media in the Timeline - File Manager

The advanced search is accessible from the {Tools > Advanced Search} menu, by clicking the \[Open The Timeline’s advanced search] button or by pressing \[Ctrl+Alt+F].

**OPEN THE TIMELINE MODULE**

Select {Show > Timeline} or press \[Alt+T].

**OPEN THE FILE MANAGER MODULE**

Select {Show > File Manager} or press \[Alt+F].

1. Select a media file and right-click on the selected file to open a contextual menu.
2. Select {Find in Timeline} to open the Timeline advanced search window.
3. The advanced search result list displays the number of times this specific media is used on the timeline as well as its screen and In point.
4. Clicking on a result from the advanced search will select the media clip on the Timeline.
5. Select a Screen filter from the dropdown menu to show the search result only for the selected screen.
6. Use the \[Go to Previous] button to move the Playhead position to the previous search result media clip.
7. Use the \[Go to Next] button to move the Playhead position to the next search result media clip.

1. Select a cue from the list and right-click on the selected cue to open a contextual menu.
2. Select {Find in Timeline} to open the Timeline advanced search window.
3. The advanced search result list displays the number of times this specific cue is used on the timeline as well as its screen and In point.
4. Clicking on a result from the advanced search will select the cue clip on the Timeline.
5. Select a Screen filter from the dropdown menu to show the search result only for the selected screen.
6. Use the \[Go to Previous] button to move the Playhead position to the previous search result cue clip.
7. Use the \[Go to Next] button to move the Playhead position to the next search result cue clip.

2. Select an active device from the list and right-click on the selected device to open a contextual menu.
3. Select {Find in Timeline} to open the Timeline advanced search window.
4. The advanced search result list displays the number of times this specific device is used on the timeline as well as its screen and In point.
5. Clicking on a result from the advanced search will select the Input Device clip on the Timeline.
6. Select a Screen filter from the dropdown menu to show the search result only for the selected screen.
7. Use the \[Go to Previous] button to move the Playhead position to the previous search result Input Device clip.
8. Use the \[Go to Next] button to move the Playhead position to the next search result Input Device clip.

4. Clicking on a result from the advanced search will select the FX Graph clip on the Timeline.
5. Select a Screen filter from the dropdown menu to show the search result only for the selected screen.
6. Use the \[Go to Previous] button to move the Playhead position to the previous search result FX Graph clip.
7. Use the \[Go to Next] button to move the Playhead position to the next search result FX Graph clip.

1. Select a 3D Object or Blender file from the list and right-click on the selected object to open a contextual menu.
2. Select {Find in 3D Scene} to open the 3D Scene advanced search window.
3. The advanced search result list displays the number of times this specific object is used in the 3D Scene as well as its name and Model Name.
4. Clicking on a result from the advanced search will select the 3D Object in the 3D Scene.
5. Use the \[Go to Previous] button to select the previous search result object from the primitive list.
6. Use the \[Go to Next] button to select the next search result object from the primitive list.
